Teeth whitening is more common than you may think! When carried out professionally, it is one of the safest and easiest ways to improve the appearance of your smile.

At Tunbridge Wells Dental Centre, we believe everyone deserves a smile they can feel proud of. That’s why we offer high-quality professional teeth whitening right here in Tunbridge, Wells, designed to give you the confidence you deserve.

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a highly effective dental treatment intended for people who are not happy with the colour of their teeth. Whether your teeth have become yellow over time or are stained due to dietary habits, teeth whitening can drastically enhance your smile by safely bleaching them to a lighter shade.

Teeth whitening options at Tunbridge Wells Dental Centre

The best way to whiten your teeth for the long term is to use our professional home whitening kits. The treatment costs £350 and includes 6 weeks’ worth of whitening gel that can be used during the day or at night time. You can start whitening just one week after your first appointment.

If you’re in a hurry, we offer in-surgery whitening as well for quicker results.

We believe in exceptional results and using the best products, which is why we use Philips Zoom as our whitening supplier.

What to expect from your teeth whitening treatment

Firstly, we make sure that your teeth and mouth are healthy and that whitening is appropriate for you. If you have decay, cavities or cracks in your teeth, we will need to fix these first. We will also explain the process so that you know what to expect from the treatment.

Once you’re ready to start, we take some impressions of your teeth and our dental laboratory technician will make custom-made whitening trays that fit over your teeth. These trays will hold the whitening gel over your teeth whilst protecting your gums and the soft tissues of your mouth.

You will use these whitening trays for up to 6 weeks, ideally overnight or for 4-5 hours in the day.

Your teeth will gradually change colour, and once you are happy with the colour they have become, you can stop whitening. At this stage, we will ask you to come back for a review with your dentist to take some final pictures and records.

Spread the cost of your whitening treatment

To make our services more accessible, we also offer 0% finance packages, allowing you to spread the cost of teeth whitening and other treatment over several months without incurring interest.

This ensures that you can achieve the smile of your dreams without worrying about immediate payment. If you’re unsure about the procedure, our experienced team will gladly guide you through the process without any pressure.

20% discount for members

Our practice plan members receive a 20% discount on teeth whitening saving you £70 off your treatment. Find out more about our membership plan here.

Frequently asked questions about teeth whitening

Is teeth whitening safe?

When done by a professional, teeth whitening is completely safe for you and your teeth. We use high-quality prescription gels from Philips Zoom and make sure your trays fit appropriately before getting started.

Does teeth whitening hurt?

No, you shouldn’t experience any pain during your whitening treatment. Your teeth can get sensitive to cold air, which is normal, and some people may find this uncomfortable, but the sensitivity will go away as soon as you stop whitening. Our dentists will be able to help you manage sensitivity during treatment.

How long does the result last?

If you don’t do any top-up whitening, your teeth will fade back in colour over the next 2-3 years. To make sure your teeth stay white, you can carry out “top-up” whitening. This involves 2-3 days’ worth of whitening using your existing trays every 6 months. It is ideal if you do this following your routine hygienist cleanings.

How do I know if I am suitable for teeth whitening

As long as your teeth are free from decay, healthy and clean, you should be suitable for teeth whitening. The only other reason we may decline whitening is if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do I need to change my diet and avoid certain foods during treatment?

No, despite what you may think, as long as you are brushing your teeth properly and keeping them clean, you can carry on eating and drinking as usual.

What’s the difference between professional whitening and whitening kits I can buy online?

In the UK, only registered dentists are allowed to prescribe peroxide whitening gels. Any non-dentist-prescribed whitening gel does not contain a high level of peroxide and, therefore, will not whiten your teeth for the long term.

Most over-the-counter kits will temporarily make your teeth look whiter, but you will have to keep using and buying them weekly for the result to last, which can work out more effort and costly.
